Eco Printing Adventures

This retreat is for people who are interested in eco printing.

Wednesday November 7th thru Sunday November 11th 2018 at the Grand Hotel, 2100 Baltimore Ave., Ocean City, MD, USA 21842

Goals:
     Develop a sense of community among eco printers 
     Promote the exchange ideas, advice and inspiration 
     Have fun together in a creative environment

All experience levels are welcome. For those new to eco printing we will offer an introductory workshop (for an additional fee) on Wednesday. Experienced printers can work at your own pace to your heart’s content. Bring your equipment and supplies, and all those projects you have been meaning to create. The schedule is designed to give you maximum flexibility.

FORMAT: We have reserved a spacious room in which to work and enjoy the company of other print artists. The room opens onto the boardwalk and beach.

Daily Gathering: We will all meet at least once a day to share our plans/activities.
Shared Printing Sessions: On Thursday, Friday and Saturday we will have communal printing sessions each day with at least 2 pots.
Individual Printing: You may print on your own with your own electric cookers (turkey roasters) on the balcony of your hotel room.
Special Interest Sessions: Possible topics include: printing with a pot of sea water, adding dye to the print pot, creating a wool felt book cover, wet cyan printing, making a simple book, embellishing prints, framing options, and exploring plant materials from the grocery store. We want your input as plans are finalized, so please let us know what you would like to volunteer to share/lead/explore/demonstrate.

REGISTRATION: 
Participation is limited to 15 people. Registration is $85 per person. It includes:
A full 6-foot banquet table of workspace during studio time
Opportunities for free workshops and special interest projects during the retreat. 

Access to shared printing pots on three days.

Registration does not include supplies, equipment, lodging, meals or travel expenses. Registration is refundable, except for a $10 processing fee, until October 1. Final payment is due by October 7th. After that time we cannot make refunds. You may send someone in your place. You may e-mail to secure your space and follow up with your deposit by post. We will confirm all registrations by e-mail.

LODGING - FOOD - TRAVEL:
You are responsible for your supplies, equipment, lodging, meals, travel and things not
specifically covered by the registration fee. Once you have a confirmed retreat registration we will send you information for making your hotel reservation.
The Grand Hotel (www.grandhoteloceancity.com) is a beachfront resort hotel on the boardwalk. Our group’s sleeping rooms have a balcony, 2 queen beds, a microwave, a bar sink, some counter space and a small refrigerator.

Participants must stay at the Grand Hotel; we cannot provide studio space for those who stay elsewhere. Our special group daily rates per room (plus taxes) are:
Weekday Rates: $ 59.00 Side View Room. $ 63.00 Direct Ocean Front Room 
Weekend Rates: $ 79.00 Side View Room. $ 83.00 Direct Ocean Front Room


Registration information for the INTRODUCTION TO ECO PRINTING Workshop on Wednesday November 7, 2018.
People attending the entire retreat - $60 (this is in addition to the basic $85 registration fee)
People attending only that day - $80
The introductory workshop includes use of equipment and all supplies; you may bring plant material if you wish.

Tuesday & Wednesday are BONUS DAYS for those who can come early. The retreat “officially” begins Thursday evening.

WHAT: Treat yourself to several days away from the distractions of home. We have reserved a spacious room in which to work and enjoy the company of other textile/paper artists. Make connections with old and new friends. Share ideas, advice and inspiration.      
Bring your equipment and supplies, and all those projects you have been meaning to work on! Relax and have fun. The schedule is designed to give you maximum flexibility so you can work non-stop, or take a break and enjoy a walk on the beach, shop, swim in the pool, or whatever YOU like.

Tuesday & Wednesday:
     8:00 AM – 2 AM   Bonus Days for those who can come early

WHO:  This retreat is designed for sewing, textile, mixed media, and paper arts enthusiasts. People interested in quilting, beading, crafts, clothing design and construction, and hand- or machine-sewing activities are welcome. Scrap booking, knitting, crocheting and similar activities are welcome.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION:  Space is limited.
Registration is $85 per person. It includes:
A full 6-foot banquet table of workspace for studio time (you don’t have to share a table)
A simple project for an opening activity on the first evening
Free workshop opportunities
Sharing of accomplishments

Weekdays - Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
            Ocean view & ocean front are $63 (plus taxes) per night.
            Grand view (side) is $59 (plus taxes) per night.

This is single or double so sharing a room with a friend means even greater savings.  (There is  $20 surcharge for more than 2 adults in a room.) Participants must stay at the Grand Hotel; we cannot provide studio space for those who stay elsewhere. Many people will arrive early and depart the morning after the last day.

Please make your hotel reservations directly with the Grand Hotel as soon as possible and no later than October 1,  2018  to receive the group rate. You are responsible for making your own reservations. Identify yourself as part of the NeedleArts Adventures Group. The hotel’s reservation number is 1-800-447-6779 / 410-289-6191.

You can find travel directions and information about the hotel, its policies, and facilities at their web site: www.grandhoteloceancity.com. There is a 24-hour coffee shop in the hotel and there are many restaurants and grocery stores near by.
            Located on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, Ocean City is an easy two-and-a-half-hour drive from Baltimore or Philadelphia. There is plenty of free parking at the hotel. You can fly to Philadelphia, PA, Baltimore, MD, or Salisbury, MD, and rent a car. (Salisbury is 30 minutes away.) We will help with carpools and roommate referrals.
